MEXICAN TACO SALAD

Ingredients for 6 Servings

1 lbs Ground beef or turkey
1 cup (1 small) chopped onion
1 cup ORTEGA® Thick & Chunky Salsa
3/4 cup Water
1 pkg (1.25 ounces) ORTEGA® Taco Seasoning Mix
1 3/4 cups (15-ounce can) kidney or pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup (4-ounce can) ORTEGA® Diced Green Chiles
6 Tortilla shells or 3 cups (3 ounces) tortilla chips
6 cups Shredded lettuce, divided
3/4 cup (3 ounces) SARGENTO® Nacho & Taco Blend Shredded Cheese, divided
Guacamole (optional)
Chopped tomatoes (optional)
ORTEGA® Thick & Smooth Taco Sauce

Procedure:

1. COOK beef and onion until beef is browned; drain.
2. Stir in salsa, water and seasoning mix.
3. Bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat to low; cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
5. Stir in beans and chiles.
6. LAYER ingredients as follows in each shell: 1 cup lettuce, 3/4 cup meat mixture,
   2 tablespoons cheese, guacamole and tomatoes.
7. Serve with taco sauce.
