ORIENTAL RICE PILAF

Ingredients for 6 Servings

1/2 cup Chopped onion
1 clove Garlic, minced
1 tbsp Sesame oil
1 3/4 cups Beef broth
1 cup Uncooked rice
1 tbsp Reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes
1/3 cup Thinly sliced green onions
1/3 cup Diced red pepper
2 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds

Procedure:

1. Cook onion and garlic in oil in 2- to 3-quart saucepan over medium heat
   until onion is tender.
2. Add broth, rice, soy sauce and pepper flakes. Bring to a boil; stir once or twice.
3. Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
4. Stir green onions, red pepper and sesame seeds into cooked rice; cover and let
   stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.
5. Microwave Oven Instructions
6. Combine onions, garlic and oil in 2- to 3-quart deep microproof baking dish.
7. Cover and cook on HIGH 2 minutes.
8. Add rice, broth, soy sauce and red pepper; stir.
9. Cover and cook on HIGH 5 minutes.
10. Reduce setting to MEDIUM and cook, covered, 15 minutes, or until rice is
    tender and liquid is absorbed.
11. Stir in green onions, red pepper and sesame seeds into cooked rice; cover and let stand 5 minutes.
12. Fluff with fork.
